The Forbidden Zone

Fucking prick optimists

I stood before a willow tree,
looked up.
Was tickled by its quiet fingers
tracing across my ear
and down my cheek.
Was filled with sounds of
clicking squirrels, twitting sparrows
singing of the heat.
But upward nothing moved —
all was still —
so I left.
